Scope of the seminar

Financial institutions have strengthened their Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorist Financing (CFT) measures in the past decades, yet recent money laundering scandals involving international banks have shown that the bad guys remain one step ahead.

Are you aware of the money laundering and terrorist financing risks your organization faces?

There is also a dangerous trend that criminals have been increasingly using non-financial industries, such as manufacturers, distributors, legal professionals, import/export, casinos, real estate agents, and other companies to hide and launder the proceeds from their activities. One study indicates that 20-30% of all proceeds from crime are laundered in the non-financial sector. As such, the 5th EU AML Directive and FATF Standards have increased compliance expectations for non-financial institutions.

This practical workshop will provide international best practices on fundamental AML and CFT principles aimed at reducing AML and CFT risks in financial institutions and non-financial institutions alike.
